I feel like I totally failed at Habit #9: Fill Your Freezer. Okay, maybe not totally, but I definitely fell short of the goals I had promised myself at the beginning of September!
Part of the problem was the 9-day vacation that Joseph and I took in the middle of the month. We had an amazing time, and it was so good to get away, but it utterly and completely threw off my groove. By the time we got back, I was so focused on catching up with laundry and cleaning, and blog work, that I just didn’t have time to make any more meals.
I jumped right into a little guilt trip about not finishing the month strong, but then I realized, things happen, and you have to give yourself grace — otherwise life is full of disappointments, rather than celebrating what you did get done!
So here’s what I did accomplish during our Freezer Cooking month:
- I organized and cleaned my freezer, which was not as bad an undertaking as I originally thought, and felt really good to get that crossed off the list.
- I made a double batch of my Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins at the beginning of the month.
- I made an extra recipe of this divine french toast stick recipe for a baby shower brunch, so I could save the rest for a quick breakfast, snack, or supper.
It wasn’t as much as I had hoped for, but it’s still a good start. And I can still schedule a day to make some of the other meals I planned, even if that day ends up being in October or November!
One of my very favorite things about these habits is when the Creative Savings community joins in on the fun. Everyone who shared a photo of any freezer meals they made, was eligible to win a $50 gift card to Amazon.com, and our winner for this month is jessica!
As a reminder, the purpose of 12 Mini Habits is to have 12 new habits by the end of the year, instead of resolutions that don’t last.
I’m still working on Habits #1-8, and now I’ll add freezer cooking to my list. I’ve definitely noticed a big difference doing these habits, and even though they might not always be perfect, at least I’m striving toward them…..and that’s progress in my mind!
If you’re interested in working through either of those previous challenges, please keep sharing photos of your journey on social media with the hashtag #12MiniHabits to be eligible for future giveaways. And if you’re completely new to this whole series, don’t be shy in joining us!
Habit #10 is already underway, so pop on over to this post for all the details.
Did you do any freezer cooking this month?
